We made history this morning when we left at 5.50am, ten minutes before the time we planned to leave. We've been offered an opportunity to stay at a holiday house through the kind generosity of our daughter's in-laws.
We arrived at a One Stop near Villiers in time for breakfast at Wimpy. I had forgotten it was Heritage Day until I saw all the female staff sporting traditional dress.
The roads were very quiet and driving was a pleasure.
After the business of Jo'burg , the solitude was refreshing.
After a while traffic started getting heavier going in the opposite direction and we noticed almost all of them had their headlights on.
It was only about a hundred and something kilometers later, when we were near Howick, that we understood why.
It was after four when we arrived at The Beach House.
What a beautiful holiday home! It is long and narrow from the back door to the garden onto the beach. There is enough room in the entrance hall for a bookshelf (stocked with reading material for guests) and a sleeper couch as well as a guest bathroom. There are three bedrooms and two other bathrooms. Everything is beautifully decorated in the Beach House theme - even the bookshelves are decorated with large sea shells.
Of course the grandchildren couldn't wait to show us the beach.
This is a place of peace and love and know we are going to have a wonderful holiday.
