Road Trip Day 51. a Quiet Sunday in Knysna

We are staying at Monk's Caravan Park. We chose this one because our AA Camp and Caravan Guide said one could walk to town from it. We thought we'd try to find a church within walking distance. Google Maps came up with Knysna Vineyard Church and Knysna Baptist Church. When I looked at their websites, I thought the Vineyard catered more for younger people so we opted for the Baptist Church.
What a friendly church! Not only were we greeted at the door and given sticky name tags (everybody else had a pin-on type) but at least five people came along and introduced themselves and welcomed us, including the pastor, Malcolm Cunningham. It turns out that he was a pupil at Rand Park High School when I started working there. He knows Leigh Robinson, Pastor of our home church, Rosebank Union Church.  He asked me to convey his greetings to Leigh whom he holds in high regard and who officiated at his induction as the minister at Knysna Baptist Church. What a small world!

While chatting after church the pastor's wife, Jacqui, said I looked familiar. It turns out, she also went to Rand Park High School.

We had a couple of offers of lifts back to the caravan park but we chose to walk. It's been an incredibly hot and humid day and we were more than ready for the swimming pool.

When it had cooled down a little, soon after four, we got on our bicycles and went exploring.
The bird life here is amazing!

We found some interesting places but, being a Sunday afternoon, they were mostly closed. We might have spent longer, perhaps stopped for a cappuccino, but thunder was threatening and we thought best to get home before the rain came. We almost made it. After a reasonable thunder shower it cleared enough for us to have a braai and then it started up again. Hope this all contributes to relieving the drought.
