Road Trip :Last Days in Cape Town

On Monday we returned the car to Budget. We only had it for four days. We caught the train home again.

We got quite good at this commuting. We got off at Fish Hoek, went shopping for groceries, then caught the Metro bus to Simon’s Town. We phoned Jay, the tuc tuc guy, and he took us to Froggy Pond Resort for R20.00.
On Tuesday we walked along the beach to Boulders with our Wild Card and camera. I got to swim at Boulders Beach, sharing the water with other tourists and penguins.
The viewing area was crowded  with penguins sharing the beach with other birds, although some times an officious penguin would chase the smaller birds away.

The scruffy looking penguins are moulting. They can’t go in the water until they have their new waterproof coats.

Some of the penguins were lying down, some on rocks and some in the sand or hollows in the sand.

At all the parking areas there were notices to check under your car for penguins. We saw how this could be a problem when we noticed an escapee at the side of a parking lot.

We walked back along the beach until we came to the beach where we had seen filming taking place a few days previously. We had a quick swim in the cold, cold water, then, after changing in the clean bathroom, cut across the golf course and made our way to the Simon’s Town Country Club for lunch.
From there it was a five minute walk along the familiar road back to the caravan park.
